Independent artist Lucas King is introducing listeners to his electronic sound with “Vulpes,” a track created during one of his most productive bursts of inspiration. Based in Edenhope, Western Victoria, Australia, King has developed his music independently, turning a small-town upbringing into an opportunity to explore his creativity without limitations.
His musical journey began at 12 years old, when he started learning drums. He later picked up guitar and began playing in bands during grade nine, writing music throughout the process. Although his early bands did not lead to major opportunities, the experience helped shape his identity as a songwriter and performer.
King’s move toward solo production came partly from necessity. With limited access to other musicians in a small regional community, he began recording his own material and playing every instrument himself. Over time, he experimented with dawless setups before eventually moving into DAW-based production.
His electronic work is informed by his roots in heavier rock, while his production style often favours slower tempos between 90 and 125 BPM. Rather than follow a strict formula, King allows each idea to determine its own direction.
